What blood tests are required before IVF treatment?

Some tests will be required before you begin treatment to ensure that you are being treated safely and effectively and that you and your spouse are in the greatest possible health to obtain the best possible result from IVF treatment.

The levels of anti-mullerian hormone (AMH) or follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) in your blood will be used by your specialist to assess your egg reserve.

Knowing how many eggs you have in your body will help your fertility specialist understand how your body will react to treatment and formulate a personalized treatment plan for you.

It may be required to monitor hormone levels during the treatment to keep the process under control and avoid problems.

In addition, several regular blood tests will be performed before the start of treatment to rule out HIV, Hepatitis B, and C infections, as well as to ensure Rubella immunity.

This is to ensure that these infections are not passed on to the baby. Additional tests may be required in some cases to identify potential blood type incompatibilities between the parents and the baby, as well as potential genetic disorders that can be transmitted from the eggs or sperm to the embryos (babies).

Finally, HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin), a pregnancy hormone, is measured in the blood or urine to determine whether the embryo transfer was successful.

What is the duration of the tests, and how can I share them with the clinic? Please bring any blood tests you or your partner have undergone in the last 12-24 months to your consultation.

These tests may offer the team helpful information about your situation, but it’s still possible that more tests will be required, or that some of the tests will need to be redone at some point along the process.

Our fertility specialists will be able to establish a plan for essential next steps and offer the best treatment for you based on a discussion of your history if you have not yet had tests done before your ultrasound exam and consultation.

Your blood tests can be done at our IVF facility; our costs are entirely affordable, and our all-inclusive IVF Package includes all of the blood tests you’ll need for one fixed charge.
